Giant Animals Still Roam the Earth

A couple days ago, some 11 year old boy killed the largest wild boar anyone has ever seen. The thing is unbelievably massive. Actually, to be exact, it was "1,051 pounds and measured 9-feet-4 from the tip of its snout to the base of its tail".

Seriously? No one notice this thing walking around? It's bigger than my car. And he killed it with a hand gun? Who goes hunting with a hand gun? After reading about this pig-monster, I could think about only 1 thing: how sick of eating pork this kid's family is going to become.

Of course, this new giant pig has eclipsed the previous frenzy over Hogzilla, the once king of Southern United States freakishly large pigs. The actual size of Hogzilla, originally thought to be 1000 lbs and 12 feet long was actually proven to be 800 lbs and 9ft long after the animal was exumed proving that when it comes to giant hogs, the same rules as fishing apply.

Speaking of fish, some of you may remember when some Thai fisherman caught the largest freshwater fish ever in the Mekong River:

This guy is 9 feet long and weighed 646 lbs and they ate the entire thing, so I'm told. I want to know where they got their fishing rod!

Another animal that grows to mythic proportions in Asia is the salamander.
They apparently also enjoy embarrassing the creatures by having Giant Salamander salamander weddings. No joke. Apparently the female got pregnant and they wanted to keep things legit.

While I could easily spend the rest of my day looking up giant animals on the internet, I will leave you simply with some amazing Blue Whale footage from the BBC series "The Blue Planet":
